The Personal Practice of Law

I practice law "one on one."  I'm the only person in this office, so there are no junior partners, associates, or paralegals to get between you and your lawyer.  I provide my personal bankruptcy advice, counsel, and representation to individual clients and small businesses throughout southern Wisconsin.

I was a partner in a larger law firm for 24 years.  That work gave me broad experience in the law, covering most legal subjects from Adoption through Zoning.   Now, my clients receive the benefit of those years of larger-firm experience, together with the personal and flexible attention of a solo bankruptcy lawyer.  I've represented clients in hundreds of Chapter 7 cases, dozens of chapter 13s and Chapter 12s, and several Chapter 11 cases.

My clients meet with me in the friendly, comfortable farmhouse my ancestors built in 1856.  I offer free initial consultations to persons seeking relief from their debts through bankruptcy proceedings of all types, including:

  • Chapter 7 -- Primarily used by individuals or small businesses, resulting in discharge of debt.
  • Chapter 11 -- Primarily used by large businesses.
  • Chapter 13 -- Primarily used by individuals or small businesses, requiring repayment of some debts.
  • Chapter 12 -- Primarily used by family farms.

Clients may also be able to use the protection offered by a special Wisconsin law called  Chapter 128, which removes interest from the  debts you choose to include in your 128 case. You pay the debts, interest-free, over a three-year repayment period.

I have been board-certified as a bankruptcy specialist by the American Board of Certification since 1993.  I've been listed by the Best Lawyers of America as a top Wisconsin bankruptcy attorney for the past five years. If you need to have a completely confidential conference about your financial situation, and want to do it in comfortable, private surroundings, please arrange to speak with me soon.
